Curb Global Warming
- "NRDC now boasts a more powerful climate arm than any other environmental group."

Ten-Year Objective
Stave off climate upheaval by steadily reducing global-warming pollution in the United States and worldwide.
2008 Victories
- Won federal protections for the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act.
- Helped launch state and regional programs to dramatically cut global warming pollution in 25 states.
- Helped halt or delay construction of some half dozen coal-fired power plants.
2009 Action Plan
We will fight to pass a tough global warming bill that cuts U.S. carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050 and funds massive investments in clean energy. We will push for long-overdue action under the Clean Air Act to curb global warming pollution from cars, power plants and other big industries. We will advance courtroom battles to strengthen protections for the polar bear and safeguard its Arctic habitat. We will escalate our campaigns to stop construction of dirty coal-fired power plants. Finally, we will increase pressure for a new international treaty to slow climate change.
