NRDC Land Conservation, Clean Energy Expert to Join Obama Administration

WASHINGTON (April 8, 2009) -- Statement of NRDC President Frances Beinecke on the selection of Ned Farquhar as the Interior Department's deputy assistant secretary for land and minerals management.

"Ned Farquhar has committed his career to protecting our most spectacular and fragile lands, from Vermont to New Mexico. It makes perfect sense that he would be part of the change that’s come to Washington, where he can apply his on-the-ground experience to his new role. Ned is exceptionally talented, and his expertise and ability to work effectively with a variety of people makes him a strong addition to Interior.

“While we will miss having Ned at NRDC, he will continue to be a vital part of what we’re working to accomplish: protection of the American lands that we all cherish.”
